The Peter Seymour Orchestra (PSO), named after the founder of the Sydney Youth Orchestra Association, is where many of our musicians will get their first chance to tackle major orchestral repertoire. With a focus on classical and early romantic repertoire, PSO is an ideal training ground for aspiring orchestral musicians to strengthen their ensemble skills, instrumental technique and understanding of style and symphonic form.
The Peter Seymour Orchestra falls under the baton of John Ockwell (SYO Alumni).

“I’ve always loved the regional tours. I remember when SYO came to my hometown, I loved it so much that I joined that same year! For me, seeing regional students have that same experience is priceless. While there were so many highlights on tour, my favourite part would have to be seeing everyone’s faces light up after our performance in Mudgee. We could tell our hours of rehearsing had paid off, and the joy was evident in everyone’s smiles. Thank SYO for allowing us this amazing opportunity.” –Isabea
